ORBITAL
Description
Over the course of several decades, the London brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll, who form the duo Orbital, have produced a vast body of expansive yet approachable electronic music influenced by a wide range of genres, from ambient to electro to punk or original movie bands. Orbital, one of the biggest names in the British electro scene in the 1990s, completely reimagined what a dance group might perform live, converting many rock lovers to the world of electro music. Their massive performance at the 1994 Glastonbury festival is still frequently cited as one of the greatest concerts ever.
Their two first albums, which are collectively referred to as “The Green Album” (Orbital, 1991) and “The Brown Album” (Orbital 2, 1993), established the duo as pioneers of electronic music and are regarded as genre classics, with significant titles like “Chime” and “Halcyon + On + On.” Following some breakups and reorganizations at the beginning of the 2000s, the group formed the original “Pusher” band in 2012 and performed in the London Paralympic Games that same year.
Their tenth studio album, “Optical Delusion,” which delves deeply into our world’s agitated, increasingly surrealist and disorganized psyche, was released in 2023.
Orbital will return to the stage to live celebrate their two first albums of the same name! Meet at the Élysée Montmartre in Paris on March 22, 2025.
